If you didn't catch this story in the UK Telegraph that gave the lowdown on China's web 'hijack' back in April, then you should take the time to read it in detail. Cyber terrorism, cyber bullying - even cyber meltdown - are not just possible, but real and increasingly probable. A few years ago now I wrote a bit about this and suggested that people needed to be more vigilant but sadly, it doesn't appear that people are any less complacent than they were then.

Whatever your field of activity, the threat of disruption is very real and you need to be prepared to deal with it. A few governments are exploring this area and in some countries task forces have been appointed to look at it in depth. I do wonder how far along they have actually got and whether, in the event of cyber attack, they would withstand the civil disruption that would result from people not being able to access bank accounts, communicate with each other or simply carry on with their business.

Whether we like it or not, we are net dependent. No matter your level of engagement, do prepare for net withdrawal as part of your crisis or emergency planning. You'll be glad you did - it really
